SARAH & KEITH | LEEZ PRIORY WEDDING IN ESSEX

It’s a sure sign wedding season has wrapped up when the blogs start making a comeback, isn’t it? This year has been an absolute whirlwind, filled with incredible couples and amazing celebrations. Now that I’ve finally had the chance to go back through all the beautiful images, I’m so excited to share some highlights with you.

Today, it’s all about Sarah & Keith—one of the loveliest couples I’ve ever worked with and, truth be told, one of the most stressful weddings of my 10-year career. Not because of them, though—they were an absolute dream. Let me tell you the story…

Wedding photographers all have their horror stories—forgetting kit, batteries dying, lenses breaking, or even falling into a pond mid-shoot (don’t ask!). But on October 11th (my birthday, no less), my nightmare became a reality: I was in a car accident on my way to Sarah & Keith’s wedding. Someone hit me from behind, and my car was written off. Cue full-on meltdown. Tears, panic, and the sinking realisation that I might not make it to the wedding. My wonderful husband came to my rescue, driving me to the venue, while I frantically called Carl, my second photographer, who was already at Leez Priory. Carl, being the absolute superstar that he is, jumped into action.

Here’s the thing about second photographers: they’re not just a second view or a backup; they’re a lifeline. Carl knew the plan for Sarah & Keith’s day as well as I did. He seamlessly stepped into my role, capturing all the morning preparations while I navigated the chaos. Thanks to him, Sarah & Keith were calm and happy, & not a thing was missed. By the time I arrived—strong coffee in hand (thank you, Leez Priory team!)—everything was under control, and I slipped into the day like nothing had happened.

Let me tell you, I’ve never been more grateful for having a second photographer. It’s not something I insist couples book, but after this experience, I’m shouting from the rooftops: having a second is worth their weight in gold.

With the morning drama firmly behind us, Sarah & Keith’s wedding was everything you could want from an October celebration. The sun graced us with its presence, allowing guests to enjoy drinks on the lawn before heading inside for a delicious three-course meal. The real fun kicked off with a surprise appearance by singing waiters, who had everyone dancing and singing along by dessert. Just when we thought it couldn’t get better, sparklers and a stunning fireworks display lit up the night sky. Then it was onto the dancefloor. Glowsticks were handed out, a saxophonist brought the party vibes, and Keith stole the show with his stag-do souvenir—a shirt proudly emblazoned with Sarah’s face! It was hilarious, heartwarming, and so them.

Despite the rocky start, Sarah & Keith’s wedding was unforgettable for all the right reasons. Their laid-back approach, love for each other, and amazing sense of humour made the day such a joy to capture. To Sarah & Keith: thank you for being so understanding and for trusting me and Carl to tell your story. To Carl: you’re an absolute gem, and I owe you more coffees than I can count.

If you’re planning your Essex wedding and want a photographer who’s ready to handle anything (yes, even a car crash!), let’s chat. Whether it’s a sun-soaked day like Sarah & Keith’s or a cozy winter wedding, I’d love to help make your memories last forever.
